Contributions of Marxist Theory to Studies on Teacher Training

This study aims to establish a theoretical dialogue between texts from the Marxist critical tradition and an ongoing master’s thesis project on teacher education in Brazil. This dialogue seeks to strengthen the project’s epistemological foundations by grounding its theoretical framework in historical-dialectical materialism. The methodology consists of a literature review, focusing on the works of Ianni, Marx and Engels, and José Paulo Netto. The findings highlight the need to relate the issue of teacher education to the multiple determinations that shape public policies in the field, in order to identify the interconnections between the ideological basis of teacher education programs and the socialization of historically accumulated knowledge.
