Transwrittings of a Travesti: ethnographing other anthropologies

Abstract

This article, based on an autoethnographic report, aspires to discuss what challenges the travestis and trans people communities, as well as other survivals of communities in dissidence, have on a daily basis both in their precarious trajectories and in the field of education.Who can do research and how to write academically based on the criteria established by a white, male, European and cisheteronormative science, specifically in Anthropology. The writing is based on a transcription of part of my trajectory in the territory of Várzea, a neighborhood in the western region of Recife, specifically in the Padre Henrique community, until the beginning of the master's degree in Anthropology at UFPE.Autoethnographic reports represent an important paradigmatic shift in the forms of production of anthropological knowledge, in which those who were the great "Others" of anthropology, the "objects of study", now have their own voice in academic production and change the discipline from within, in the place of anthropologists. There is no intention to answer the various questions raised, but rather to broaden the reflection on the gigantic challenge of a black, peripheral travesti in the field.
