“Science and Medicine” column: scientific knowledge in Jornal das Moças in the context of the release of the contraceptive pill (1960-1961).

Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to analyze the themes and discourses present in the column “Science and Medicine” of the supplement “Jornal da Mulher” of the weekly newspaper “Jornal das Moças”. The period analyzed corresponds to approximately one semester before the launch of the contraceptive pill a year later. This text aims to discuss the type of scientific discourse conveyed by the newspaper, during a period in which science reached one of the achievements with the greatest social impact on women's lives. Thus, the text seeks to analyze what type of content was published as being supposedly of interest and value to women and their experiences in society.
