Abstract

The current work sought to discuss in the form of a theoretical essay the contradictions and limits of mining in Brazil, more specifically in the state of Rondônia. Proposing to question the concept of development, placing it as a reflection of our colonial heritage, which conceives growth only through the excessive exploitation and subjugation of Nature. As a way out of this predatory capitalist labyrinth, it is proposed to turn to the original and local Latin American cosmovisions, such as Good Living, the struggle for the Rights of Nature, and the construction of other forms of consumption and production that relate the concepts of degrowth and the post -extractivism for the development of effective possibilities beyond the destruction of capital.
