The community of Pinguela is located in the municipality of Amélia Rodrigues, Bahia. Region that geographically integrated the Bahian Recôncavo, responsible during the colonial and imperial periods for the prosperity in the production of sugar. This article aims to investigate the process of (re)creation of the territorial and cultural identity of the quilombola community of Pinguela, from a gender perspective, emphasizing the role of women in the construction of the territorial identity of the community through their oral narratives.
