Comics, History teaching, knowledge and practice of History teachersAbstract
This text aims to reflect on the potential of comics in teaching and learning History. Methodologically we adopted the following procedures: bibliographic research concerning comics and its relation to History teaching; analysis of an workshop conduced in the Escola Estadual Monte Alegre de Minas, as an activity of the “Creating comics and learning History in Monte Alegre de Minas” project; hearing the voice of History teachers who attended the workshop and also observing History classes. It was possible to verify that, in History classes, comics can help during the education process, however it is necessary that teachers and students know how to apply them. Comics may be useful in understanding some aspects of social life of communities located in different time and space. Accordingly, they contribute to the process of teaching and learning History. Comics have a globalized character and permit text-image association, instigate reading habits and enrich the vocabulary.Downloads
