Woman Against the Extermination Group White Hand in Campina Grande (1980): Celma and Dra. Terezinha Braga.
Abstract
The objective is to tell the story of the actions of the Mão Branca extermination group, in 1980, in the city of Campina Grande-PB, through the denunciation of two women: One of them, Celma, was a market vendor, and saw the moment when her nephew, Carlos Alberto, was executed by the Mão Branca, and with her, gathered another witness Mariza Nadja de Sousa. With stories similar to those of residents of neighborhoods in the east of the city, Eriomar Simão de Lucena, Perré, said he saw Renato Arara being driven to the yellow Brasília, used by the group. Through the analysis of the case of the only convict and articles from the newspaper Diário da Borborema, the stories highlight that the polices began their activities with extortion and torture, until the expulsion of Temporal, and his return to the police under the influence of Ciço Tomé, civil police officer, chief delegate at the city's police headquarters, who placed him as a subordinate to Zezé Basílio, and who, with the support of the addict Zé Cacau, collected information on criminals who were arrested, beaten and with the justification of being transferred, they were removed from the detention house, murdered and their bodies sold in jornalistic articles. To whom, the lawyer Tereza Braga, together with her sister Letice Braga, perpetrated the accusation, as well as managed to bring together the intellectual, religious and political elite of Campina Grande. Culminating in the accusation against: Zezé Basílio, Ciço Tomé, Temporal, Zé Cacau and Trovão, in the conviction of only Zezé Basílio as Mão Branca and in the acquittal of the others for the crimes of homicide, with Zé Cacau, Temporal and Trovão tried in 1987 for extortion and torture and Ciço Tomé, who was acquitted of all charges, continued to working on the police center.
