Black Women and Social Abandonment: Marks of Colonialism and Territoriality

Abstract

This article discusses the way in which Black Women are socially positioned. In this sense, the body of the text makes pertinent analyzes of Colonialism, its concept and its context in Brazil, focusing on its results for the country's population. In other words, it will address the slavery period and the European molds projected in the social formation of the then Brazilian Colony, which continued until the present day, building and strengthening models of discrimination, in particular: Gender, Race and Class. Therefore, the writing will begin to describe the reality of the Brazilian Black Woman in this scenario following a vision of territory, sometimes being a physical space, sometimes being her own body, invaded and commanded by the “civilizing white man” and abandoned when she is no longer necessary. Black people, especially women, are only seen and “valued” when they are in a place of subservience, otherwise, it is no one’s concern other than their own. Therefore, the article will seek to explain the details of these violations.
