XIX CENTURY, THE FEMALE WRITING IN A PRIODICS, ITS TRANSFORMATIONS AND PERSPECTIVES... HOW DOES MARIA LÚCIA’S NOVEL INDICATE IT?
Keywords:

The work in question aims to analyse the metaphorical writing of a romance from Maria Lúcia Romariz, published in the year of 1888 at the A família: jornal litterário dedicado à educação da mãe e família (SP) directed by editor Josephina Alvares de Azevedo. To do so, the analysis of the article begins from authors such as Barbosa (1974), Abreu (2003), as well as researches on the collection at Biblioteca Nacional Digital do Brasil. At the end of the XIX century, with the most recurring appearance of female writing in Brazilian province journals, social transfomations became more evident in writing production, that, associated to the writer’s socioeconomical situation, add to a reconstitution of the female writing scene of the end of the XIX century. In Maria Lúcia’s writings, the metaphor of a social awakening highlights that mental trans- formations were present in the rst-person female representation in the text speech, although, despite its presence, the female writing was still restricted to the highest layers of society.
