Keywords:

The article aims to introduce the concepts of Hegemonic Masculinity and Subaltern Masculinity, as well as studies on borders and smuggling. I propose to trace aspects of smuggler masculinity from the lm El Baño del Papa, focusing on three large blocks of the movie; 1) the relationship between smugglers and inspection; 2) the intersectionalities between smugglers; and 3) the masculinities related to femininities in the lm. It is concluded that smugglers’ masculinities are conditioned to survival and crossing, willing to make working conditions and business more exible as the only premise fortheir permanence.
