Keywords:
Indigenous history, Queer Indigenous History, Queer Theory, SexualityAbstract
Based on personal inquiries about my indigenous ancestry and the way in which “I stopped being indigenous”, this article presents the project “Between the Arch and the Basket” and its criticism based on the Queer Indigenous Studies approach. To this end, the article is divided into three analytical moments: a) a reection on my personal trajectory, especially with regard to the conict between ancestral ethnicity and dissident sexuality born both in experiences with the surrounding society, as well as family members; b) then, I present the referred project, indicating its theoretical-methodological basis, the main authors under discussion, its guiding issues and some expected results, both practical and reective; nally, I indicate some preliminary results on the methodological, theoretical and practical issues raised so far, seeking to outline the main characteristics of the Queer Indigenous Studies approach, in an initial characterization eort. A joint reection on Queer studies and indigenous issues in History and contemporaneity is reserved for the nal considerations.
