The publication and importance attributed to the intellectual development of the South and Southeast regions is wide, with emphasis on the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. What does this impact on the history of these subjects? With the aim of contributing to the decentralization of these studies, this article, which derives from our monograph work, will analyze two articles that mention homosexuals and transvestites that were published in the newspaper Diário da Borborema in the years 1980 and 1981, founded in city of Campina Grande - PB in 1957, by the senator at the time Assis Chateaubriand. In this way, we will observe how the civil-military dictatorship in its “redemocratization” phase (CORDÃO, p. 16, p. 2018), made life difficult for these individuals from an intersectional analysis in order to analyze the violence they were victims of. .
