ESCOLA SUPERIOR DE GUERRA E LINHAGEM POLÍTICA CONSERVADORA NO BRASIL.

Abstract

Analyzing the Escola Superior de Guerra (ESG) and its political thought is imperative to relate it to the American National War College as well as the structure of the National Security Doctrine and its anti-communist propositions. However, a national dimension is often forgotten, which is extremely important for understanding this institution, notably the authoritarian nationalist thought of Alberto Torres and Oliveira Vianna. Based on the concept of political lineage proposed by Gilberto Marçal Brandão, in which the author states that there are some institutions and thinkers that would trace part of their production back to a type of traditional or original thought and that would end up generating a type of genealogical tree of certain types of political thought, founding a lineage of this way of thinking. Thus, this article analyzes how the Escola Superior de Guerra could be interpreted as belonging to a political lineage that began at the beginning of the 20th century with Alberto Torres and Oliveira Vianna.
