The semiarid region offers social scientists a variety of objects of study, which require the researcher to have a sensitive and critical look, in order to base the research objectives on the dimension of changes that involve and re-signify the lives of individuals and groups. In this sense, the objective of the article is to analyze evidence of ruralities, as a field of possibilities that are expressed, in forms of cooperation, in symbolic goods, in the use of natural resources and in the production of food. The reflections result from empirical research, case studies, and bibliography research. The analysis work points to the need to value the interdependencies between the scientific field and other dimensions of social life, whose changes inform new meanings and social processes that, being at the same time the object of science and society, are historical, dynamic and prospective in the in the sense that we update planning of actions and interventions.Downloads
