beliefs and organization of Evangelical Churches in brazilian politics

With a population close to 50 million people and na organization performance, evangelicals have become na importante group in Brazilian politics, able to elect representatives, organize parties, influence or decide elections. Politically engaged since the 1980s, after the Strong growth of neopentecostal churches, evangelicals do not, however, form a homogeneous group and can act jointly or not according to their dogmas or interests. This paper seeks to historically analize the political performance profile of evengelicals in Brazil and how they organiza and act the one hand how beliefs serve to justify and legitimize participation in the electoral game and, on the other, how the political pragmatism enters churches allowing them to act as parties.
