According to Gumbrecht, the so-called “paradigm crisis” might be associated with the emergence of a “mood of latency”, the feeling that something intangible is always on the point to happen. The late capitalism is regulated by the logic of a new experience of historical time in which the past stubbornly does not pass, like a “stowaway”, the present is enlarged becoming a persistent physical proximity, and the future is a refuge of threats. In this context in which Habermas found a presumed “exhaustion of utopian energies”, what kind of telos the Latin American left wing could pursuit? The purpose of this article is to inquire into the manner that this crisis echoed in the political and theoretical conceptualizations of three Latin American leftist formations active during the democratic transition.Downloads
