Abstract

The military coup of State of 1964 can be thought in three phases: the plot, the seizure of power by military and the construction of a new regime. Civil-military alliance that conspires and deposes President João Goulart wasn’t homogeneous, and right away to the coup, it was confronted to crucial issues to the construction of a new institutional order. For the military regime, it was necessary to legitimize the seizure of power but before was necessary too resolving differences within the armed forces and overcome the mistrust of the civic groups. This article explores how the National Security Doctrine, formulated by Escola Superior de Guerra served to the group attached to school become majority in the military regime in the early years but too it formulated a project of the nation and government who conquered legitimacy to the population .
