Abstract

This paper aims to present the concept of kitsch as an aesthetic and ontological concept in the theoretical perspective of the Epistemology of Romance. For the Epistemology of Romance, the word kitsch is associated with Milan Kundera's thinking about what he calls the necessity of the beautifying lie for self-gratification. The Epistemology of Romance supports the Kunderian idea of ??concealing "shit" as an aesthetic ideal of being in which kitsch, as an aesthetic form of the negation of questions of the human condition, deals with what Hermann Broch defines as the absence of ethical reflection. in the context of aesthetics, fostered by the need for pleasing aesthetic effect. For the Epistemology of Romance, kitsch is the aesthetic form of idyll. Thus seeking a false beauty and harmony that would bring a sense of peace and end of tragedy.
