The present work aims at discussing contemporary forms of existence linked to the exercise of power over life that are materialized in practices, projects and institutional programs whose objective is the preservation of the human being through the extinction of risks of death. With Foucault (2006, 2005, 2002, 1995) discusses it the forms of power that guide the processes of subjectivation and it is observed that biopower is exercised taking life as a strategy. It is discusses the body as an object of power-knowledge and of materiality of the production of subjectivities based on the works of Prado Filho and Trisotto (2008), Woodward (2007) and Guimarães (2005). It is concluded that when control over life passes through the capture of subjectivities, the body is given the ability to materialize forms of existences arising from choices and the positioning that the subject assumes ahead the normalization.
