Abstract

This paper aims at sketching a mapping of the games, from which we question the discursive units of images and sounds that composse electronic games, Considering the discurses of threat, survival, violence and war that appear there. We took as theoretical-analytical corpus the first three games belonging to the series of games Resident Evil. In this perspective, considering the theoretical- methodological procedures that meke up the archeology method, thought with and by Michel Foucault, we will describe and analyze the materiality’s and their discontinuities in the vídeo games and give status to them of discursive unity. What can be possibly be concluded here is that the Foucault’s postulates about the discurse provide theoretical and methodological assumptions for thinking about the functioning of video games.
