Abstract

This paper aims at showing a discussion on the relation between discourse and cognition, that is to say, discourse, cognition and society (VAN DIJK, 2002), emphasizing quotidian discursive practices. Such practices emerge from a verbal interaction among subjects empirically constituted. They can reveal processes of representation constructions enounced by these subjects. Concerning the act of representing and its comprehension, an involvement of other in enunciative process projects an intended discourse as a source of mental schemes, cognitive arrangements according to van Dijk’s theoretical framework (2002, 2003). Besides, some concepts, concerned to disposed macrotheme (discourse, cognition and society) will be discussed through an analysis of a written real interlocution, taken as a discursive process.
