Abstract

This article analyzes the disputes in the trajectory of agrarian question in the period of the dictatorship, through the study of the Roberto Campos’ action in the government of Castello Branco, when it built the Land Statute. Problematizes the capitalist modernization in the field, the proposed “land reform”, the formation of the agroindustrial complex and the intentions of turning small farms in business. Seeks to identify the social groups that supported these proposals. The sources for reflection are formed by Roberto Campos’ articles and books, and official documents on the agrarian question in Brazil.
