The interconnection between cultural geography and geotourism is essential for the sustainable development of a region. The present paper seeks to analyze the relationship between these aspects as drivers of local development, taking Cachoeira da Usina as a case study in the municipality of Guarda-Mor, northwest of Minas Gerais. The methodology was based on theoretical and documentary research regarding cultural and geotouristic manifestations in the municipality of Guarda-Mor. It is understood that cultural and geographic variables, related to geodiversity, which influence tourist interest and the preservation of natural resources can provide benefits to local communities.. Cachoeira da Usina is a popular tourist spot that receives many visitors attracted by its scenic beauty and cultural significance, with ancient geological formations and high biodiversity, providing learning and exploration opportunities for tourists and researchers. It is essential, however, that geotourism in Cachoeira da Usina is practiced in a conscious and sustainable way, ensuring the preservation of this ecosystem, and allowing local communities to benefit and participate in geotouristic and cultural development.
