This paper presents the study of the text of an art exhibition site entitled "São Francisco river navigated by Ronaldo Fraga". The study is based upon some theoretical discussions by the French teacher Patrick Charadeau. Fundamental concepts about the language act were highlighted, taking into account semiolinguistic considerations and the theory of language subjects. This study also pointed out relevant issues about the organization of the descriptive mode, and, mainly, the narrative mode, tied to the possible observations that the text of the study made possible. This course demonstrated the perception of social and communicative roles of those involved in the communication contract, emphasizing intention, the situational plan and the multiple dimensions used for understanding what is written/read.
