THE FAMILY AND FINANCIAL RELATIONS AND THE INTERDICTIONS IN AS METAMORFOSES

Abstract

This paper focuses on comparing the novel written by Franz Kafka A metamorfose (1997) and the graphic novel A metamorfose (2004) by Peter Kuper, based on what Michel Foucault (2005, 2006, 2013) theorizes on the discourse ruled and directed by laws and institutions, the utterance as an enunciative function, and the modes of objectification and subjectification of the subjects. Considering that Gregor's family relationships as an insect and as a man are permeated by financial issues and hence Gregor was once a man who provided for his family, and this way, he had an active voice and visibility in the order of the discourse; but at the moment he becomes an insect he is cast aside and he also becomes invisible somehow. These changes also interfere on the social roles played by each and every person in this familiar group (sister, father, and mother), who needs to work to provide to everybody.
