FAST FUCK APPS AND THE TACTICAL POLYVALENCE OF DISCOURSE REGARDING SEROPOSITIVITY

Abstract

This article seeks to analyze – based on discussions on biopolitics and racialization and supported by the concept chronic apparatus of AIDS – discourses materialized in geolocation applications geared to homoaffective practices. Thus, the paper takes the hypothesis of the tactical polyvalence of discourse as a starting point. As sources of corpus the work harnesses three applications – Grindr, Hornet and Scruff – and the injunction for confession and subjectivation via seropositive statements – a feature introduced by the apps in mid-2016, when a health and prevention strategy for male homosexuals was implemented. What is noticeable is an ambivalent economy of discourses, which, on the one hand, suggests the assumption of seropositivity as a way of life and, on the other hand, calls for a bio-asceticism in the modality of speaking of oneself, whose limit is the split between bodies and subjects.
