AXIOMATIC DEVICE AS A DISCURSIVE ANALYSIS TOOL

Abstract

This study aims to present the configuration, functioning and potential of using the axiomatic framework as a methodological resource for discourse analysis. The discursive axiom works as an engine that reveals ideologically crystallized structures by producing an “energy” that releases initial meaning effects around the object under scrutiny. By contributing to mapping regularities in a corpus, not only does the axiomatic device provide an initial reading of the utterance routines, but it also provides the analyst with some assurance in his/her interpretations about the meaning effects surrounding the discursive memory networks.
