Abstract

This text aims to analyze the documentary "Growing up Coy" in order to discuss the discursive functioning of the confessional, juridical e sexuality devices in such filmic materiality intending to describe the exercise of symbolic violence against the transsexual subject. To support this research, it is used as a theoretical-methodological referential the Foucauldian archegenealogy, as well as the conceptual postulate of the device concept proposed by Foucault (2008) and Deleuze (1996). The results of this research indicate that the operation of the juridical device under analysis is a discourse producer and promotes displacements regarding the exercise and enforcement of laws that protect the rights of transgender people.
