Abstract

Taking into account the theoretical relations between Discourse Analysis and Linguistics, this paper aims to conduct a study on the contributions of the concept of statement, developed by Michel Foucault, for researches concerning language issues. This way, we discuss some texts of the French philosopher, in which he focuses on the language and its study. More emphatically, we present the elaboration of the concept of statement in The archeology of knowledge, since it enables a reflection on the role of discourse analyst in the study of linguistic materiality.
