In this article, we discuss the Social Theory of Discourse developed by Norman Fairclough. It is a theoretical and methodological project, that allowed us to stimulate a critical and reflective point of view about discourses. It envolves understand discourse as social practice articulated politically and ideologically in power relations. We follow a temporal approach to highlight the pathways of the theory, and how the investigative process has been redesigned.
