‘SELF NARRATION’ AND IRONY

A CASE STUDY UNDER A DISCOURSE ANALYSIS SUPPORT

Abstract

This paper aims at joining discursive procedures we have been using lately. We also aim at interpreting some excerpts or quotations compiled from pseudonarratives of cotidian life in a double fictional world. Such view is adequate to a discursive perspective, a transdisciplinary field which absorbs theoretical procedures from several areas of knowledge. The chosen theoretical framework was Patrick Charaudeau’s Semiolinguistics Theory (1983, 1995, 2008). It is a pertinent support to approach factual and fictional discursive orders. We aim at associating such theoretical framework with ideas from Bakhtin, Ducrot and others. In the so-called Discourse World it is relevant to include a special genre which joins literature and life-reporting. Thus, Life Narrative, or Self-Narrative deals with the act of reporting a story in informal contexts (among friends, in familiar parties and so on) or when it happens in formal contexts (working meetings, political manifestations, interviews and so on). Such narratives claim from narrator some capituring strategies, as well as, abilities to create commitment strategies directed to a possible audience.
