DOXA AS ARGUMENTATIVE STRATEGY IN THE SOCCER NARRATIVE ON TELEVISION

Abstract

Based on an overview of current studies of rhetoric (AMOSSY, 2005, 2006), this article aims to investigate the soccer game narrative (SGN) not only as a place to make-know, but also a make-believe from the study of argumentation. Through a soccer game narrative outline of women's team during the qualifiers for the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, transmitted by Band, we intend to analyze how the doxa manifests itself in the discourse constructed in a specific SGN, and identify the doxics elements present in this SGN. With this we hope to contribute to research at the interface discourse/argumentation/media to consider the argument as a social and discursive practice anchored in a doxa that, in turn, is the speaking subject.
