This work aims to analyze some of the peculiarities of the Ribeirão Baú hydrographic basin, in order to prepare maps, develop morphometric calculations and carry out fieldwork in the region. Analyzes about the characteristics of hydrographic basins are essential to understand the systemic dynamics of the environment, and thus manage environmental, water, fauna and flora issues. It is noteworthy that the physical aspects (climate, geology, soils, use and land cover) allow defining morphometric parameters, and thus reflect local aspects. In this sense, field work is an important step to validate or refute such data. With these mappings, it was found that the basin has an extensive area capable of use and production of monocultures, with a favorable climate for the cultivation of various varieties of grain. In addition, the study area has low slopes, soil suitable for planting in much of the basin, low chances of flooding and natural disasters. There are still patterns at the site that interfere with the small concentration of drainages, and one of the factors that influence this issue is the infiltration of water into the water table, which ends up reducing surface runoff.
