In an exploratory manner, this article works some of the meanings of landscape. Having in mind the amplitude of the theme, as well as that of the other theme to which it is here tentatively related – natural heritage –, the following reflection is guided by the geographical approach and aims to demonstrate some of the manners through which landscape has approximated nature, and that these have become an object of space valorization. Along with this, the article aims to approach landscape through cultural policies for natural preservation, in an effort to highlight some of the policies adopted in worldwide range, national range, and particularly in the state of São Paulo, since these were considered innovative in the field of natural heritage, and have brought particular perspectives on the preservation of landscapes. Having in mind the different manners the representation of landscape has undergone, some of the manners through which natural landscape was represented in the state of São Paulo are highlighted here, through the analysis of advertisements for real estate initiatives localized close to natural assets, as well as the symbolic values associated to them.
