Abstract

The article relies on the New Cultural Geography ideas to reflect on the landscape and Brazilian backland in the songs from the Brazilian bumpkin country duo Pena Branca and Xavantinho. Its aim is to show that the Brazilian backland landscapes present in their songs infer a way to see and hear the backlands, opened to the extensive fabulous influences around the ideas of Brazilian backlands; the central idea to the understading of the Brazilian territorial formation, therefore, the duo’s work brings another narrative about this process.
