Abstract

This article presents a short part from the studies elaborated by the Study and Research Group on Education in the City and Humanities (Gepech) based at the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo. Through bibliographical research, it seeks to answer the following question: how can art and philosophy help to understand formative aspects that the city can promote? Therefore, it emphasizes the analysis of the city in loco, called “formative journey”, by assuming that walking is an aesthetic and gnoseological practice. It starts from the idea that the trajectory of philosophy and art history can offer clues about how the human being has initiated to think and act on the city in a more critical and sensitive way as soon as he has taken walking as a gnoseological and aesthetic practice. It uses such areas of knowledge and ideas to strengthen what it conceives as Education in the City.

Sandra Soares Della Fonte, Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo

Possui graduação em Filosofia e em Educação Física pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (Ufes). Possui mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba, doutorado em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais e doutorado em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. É professora da Ufes, atua no Mestrado Profissional em Ensino de Humanidades (Ifes) e no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Ufes.
